Do catfish eat ducks?
Surprisingly, the fiery nature of catfish gives them the confidence to attack and eat up ducks swimming in the river. Ducks like to take a dip once in a while, but they can be in danger if the river is home to huge catfish.
While it is not very common because ducks can quickly take flight and escape a catfish, it is possible that a wounded duck will fall prey to the fish. However, we know that the cases reported usually involve very large catfish, whose mouths have fully developed to accommodate a small duck. Bigger ducks in rivers are quite safe from catfish, because of their size.
If it is noticed that there is a school of large catfish eating up ducks and ducklings in a river, it is important to find ways to prevent that from happening. Ducks are not regular food for catfish, so such cases of catfish eating ducks should be quickly addressed to save the ducks.
We know that some places where catfish have been found to eat ducks, the anglers in that area called for an intervention, the plan is to remove the catfish from the water to save the ducks. The fish can be caught and relocated to other rivers.
Ducks are such adorable birds; people get therapeutic experiences by watching ducks glide in the rivers or lakes; it will be a shame to watch a duck being eaten by a big catfish.
